It was glorious today. Seventy, clear sun, warm breezes. Heaven.

Good for the soul and the psyche too. Canine, human.

We walked right after our oatmeal, even Mama Pajama went all the way to the River. Then I put the boy dogs in the van. It was so nice that the girl dogs could go in and out of the house with the kitchen door open. No worries of wandering Romeos getting to Lindy Available Loo. Not with Delia, Mama Pajama, Luciano, and Maria to sound the "furriner" alarm and Bill right there. So the girls and Luciano (he's really one of the girls in that Broke Back Mountain kind of way, and prefers their company) got some peace and quiet and sun and relaxation, and the boys got to run.

And run they did. There is no dog alive who appreciates a run more than Fat Charlie. Could he possibly be turning eleven in June? He smiles and grins and wags and chases the younger ones and wags and smiles and grins and tells me what a great good servant I am. (That was nice to hear today.) And Very Old Dog had a lovely good time. He galloped a bit! I held my breath. He trotted around and around and finally flopped on the ground and rolled in the grass and worshipped the sun. And Swede William got to run off some frustration, and Sam I Am got to outrun everyone else. After he did twelve weave poles perfectly and did the chute. I made up a trick which seemed to work. I put yummy treats inside the chute showing the path out, and he figured how to open the way with his nose down.

Then I worked the rest of the afternoon outside. Alternating Swede William and Lindy Loo in the yard, and explaining to Swede William in no uncertain terms, that when it was his turn inside, in a comfy crate full of chewgars and peanut butter filled kongs, he could and would be quiet. And he was. Good boy.

Oh how a little warmth and sunshine can calm a troubled soul.

  1. we have always know you are a brave soul, and perhaps a bit foolish. But really. Celery colored couch and HOW MANY dogs?

    Muzzer is in awe

  3. We had such a wonderful day yesterday and then it was COLD and miserable today. I'm ready to sunbathe and the same time! Bring on the warm weather!

    Peace + Paws,

  4. Don't you just wish you could relax like that? Oh, to be a dog.

  5. When we first got Agnes, and I was tossing up getting an ILP for her in case she ever wanted to go coursing (my dogs are the only whippets in the history of the world who SLEPT five feet from a coursing track) I figured I could send in the photo of her snoozing just like William there, and they'd know she was a whippet for sure!

  6. I love the upside down whippet look.

We had beautiful weather this weekend, but today's high was 50-some at 4 am.....otherwise temps are plummeting.

  7. We had a glorious day yesterday too... Your lot is beautiful!

  8. Woo Hoo, mom took us out for a walk yesterday too. We couldn't go for a walk until today cause mom wanted me to relax(yeah right) for a couple of days after having 8stitches/staples in my back.

Is there nothing better than seeing a dog running free with all the joy in his face and mouth.

Marv always looks like he is in 7th Heaven and smiling to beat the band.

  11. We had a nice day here too! I got to go outside for my bathroom duties without my stupid jacket.

I love cuddling on the couch with my belly up too.

    Frenchie Snorts

  12. What a wonderful way to take a nap. Then any way to nap is wonderful.

  13. Ahhhh! The weather WAS beautiful, eh? We went for a nice long walk today. My sissy takes care of the running. I amble, occasionally trot.

  14. Swede William is such a trooper. :) I'm not sure how long gals stay in heat, but hopefully Lindy Loo will finish up soon and end the torture! (I'd better start hunting info, Athena will be 1 at the end of the month!)

  15. I have just spent the most wonderful 20 minutes catching up with your blog. You are definitely Precious, Patience.

And, in spite of your two legged failings, you seem a most excellent servant. Needless to say, I do not let my two pals anywhere near your blog. They would lock me in the porch.

Love your comments! Love them we do. Don't be bashful! Thank you for visiting :-)
